The Vampire Squid
The vampire squid lives in the deep ocean where very little light reaches. Despite its scary name, it doesn't drink blood. When threatened, it can turn itself "inside out" to show spiky projections that make it look dangerous to predators.
These strange creatures have the largest eyes relative to body size of any animal. Their eyes can be as large as oranges! They use bioluminescence to confuse predators, creating glowing clouds in the dark water.

My son is nine years old. He's autistic and has apraxia of speech, which makes communication challenging in ways most people don't see. During a parent-teacher conference, his teacher told me something that broke my heart: she didn't think his reading comprehension scores were accurate. He'd get bored halfway through assessments and just start guessing, clicking through without reading.
But I knew something she didn't. At home, he could tell me everything about his special interests - deep sea creatures, video game mechanics, ancient civilizations. He'd remember details I'd forgotten, make connections I hadn't seen. The problem wasn't his comprehension. It was that nobody had bothered to meet him where his interests lived.
So I built this. A place where reading comprehension isn't a chore, but an adventure through the things he actually cares about. Now he rushes to see which creature is in the next room, what he'll discover on the next floor. His scores reflect what I always knew was there.
If your child learns differently, if they have deep interests that don't fit into standard curricula, if you've been told their scores "don't match their potential" - this is for you. For them.
